Harvey's School Of Motoring
Hi and welcome to Harvey's School of Motoring, owned and run by myself, Peter Harvey. We are one of the longest established driving schools in the Paisley area, as I have been an instructor since 1978 we can offer you a level of training that only comes with over 40 years experience. This is reflected in the high pass rate our pupils achieve.

As a long standing, active member of the MSA GB (Motor Schools Association) you know you are being taught to the increasingly stringent criteria set by the Driving & Vehicle Standards Agency and we positively promote a 'Safe driving for Life' policy, allowing you not just to pass your test, but to be a safe and responsible driver once you have your licence.

We offer a wide range of driving courses for new learners, those who have passed their test and advanced drivers, we also train new Driving Instructors & re-train existing Driving Instructors and all training is tailored to suit the individual so you can learn at a pace that suits you.We provide quality tuition in modern automatic vehicles to suit all ages and abilities so whether you are a first timer or have already had lessons and don't think it's working for you!

Advanced driving courses are tailored to suit each individual to enable participants to pass the IAM or RoSPA advanced driving test.
These courses are recommended for an individual looking to pass an Advanced Driving Test or for members of staff who cover high mileage, both assessments are about 90 minutes long.
They can include: Theory session, practical coaching and ongoing assessment as required.
Once you pass the IAM test you will be expected to maintain the high standard you have attained and a re-test is optional at your discretion.
Tell me where you'd find the information for the recommended tyre pressures for this car and how tyre pressures should be checked.
Manufacturer's guide, use a reliable pressure gauge, check and adjust pressures when tyres are cold, don't forget spare tyre, remember to refit valve caps.
Tell me how you make sure your head restraint is correctly adjusted so it provides the best protection in the event of a crash.
The head restraint should be adjusted so the rigid part of the head restraint is at least as high as the eye or top of the ears, and as close to the back of the head as is comfortable.
Unfortuantely, statistics show that new drivers of any age are more likely to have a collission within the first two years of passing their test than at any other time in their driving career.
While this is really just down to a lack of experience insurance premiums merely reflect the increased risk.
Your initial driver training should provide you with a varied range of road and traffic conditions, however, this training often takes place on familiar roads around Paisley or other areas we cover, as there are time constraints and lesson objectives to consider.
The Driving Standards Agency recommend on their 'Safe Driving for Life' website that where possible learners should take Private Practise as this can help reduce the time needed to prepare for the test.
We realise that insuring a vehicle for a learner driver can be quite expensive, to that end we have formed a partnership with "Collingwood Learners" to supply insurance for learner drivers in their own vehicle at very competitive rates.
As a photo is required for your licence the DVLA can use your passport photo if you have one.
If you don't have one, or you want to use a different one, this will need to be sent to the DVLA separately.
You can find costs for all licence types here.
Before you start the hazard perception part of the test, you'll be shown a short video clip about how it works before being shown a series of video clips on a computer screen.
The clips feature everyday road scenes and contain at least one developing hazard - but one of the clips will feature two developing hazards.
